Manufacturing Technical Focus

Sophisticated cutting facilities

TCI Apparel is very proud of two large cutting facilities. It boasts the latest automated Lectra & Gerber cutting equipment technology as well as skilled artisans who are able to handle the most delicate of manual operations. Relying on exceptional operator skills, our cutting facilities and technology allow us to achieve superior fabric utilization for the range of products and fabrics we work with, whilst maintaining outstanding quality standards.

Streamlined materials and handling

Throughout the value stream process; from raw materials to finished product, we make use of every available technology, including a SABS accredited laboratory for testing our wide array of fabrics and due diligence testing of finished garments. Our facilities are also WRAP approved (gold standard). Product is handled with the greatest care instilling a superior quality ethos focusing on attention to detail.

Dedicated specialist lines

Our manufacturing facilities have been structured to have production lines with specialist capabilities, aligned with our own and our customer’s product portfolio. These lines have been built in order to capitalize on specialized skills and experience which we have developed over decades of clothing manufacture. This approach has allowed us to achieve and maintain quick response manufacturing to the highest of quality standards.

Sophisticated and integrated management systems

In recent years, we have invested strategically in material resource planning, Enterprise resource planning and performance management systems. We are focussed on staff training to ensure that our organization can handle the complexity of a wide product and fabric range, whilst satisfying some of the most demanding and discerning customers. We continue to position ourselves at the cutting edge of industry technology by continuously investing in efficiency improvement initiatives.

Supply Chain Investment and Partnerships

In the last 2 years, the TCIA family has grown to incorporate the Star Knitwear Group in Mauritius. This partnership has created a vertically integrated supply chain enhancing our quick response capability and bespoke fabric development (jacquards, prints, stripes and surface interest knits). This partnership provides TCIA with international fashion intelligence on garment and fabric trends by sharing ranges designed for the global market by the Star Knitwear team.

A major clustering project will further enhance and develop our supply chain by empowering and financially assisting smaller partner CMTs to become a sustainable link in our value chain. These CMTs will add complimentary skills to our existing manufacturing capabilities, growing the industry and creating employment.

Our mission is to play a leading role in the revitalization of the South African Textile and Apparel industry, enabling a collaborative, integrated ecosystem, thereby contributing to social and economic stability.
